Myung-Seop Hong was born in 1948 in Pyungyang, north Korea. In 1950 he took refuge in Daejeon, south Korea during the Korean War. In 1976 he received the B.F.A at the College of Fine Arts, Seoul National University and in 1986 he graduated at the same department. He participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the world. His work is also mentioned in different publications and in addition he himself is the author of several texts about art. Since 1997 he is Professor at the College of Arts, Hansung University. Currently he lives in Seoul.
