Bernd Ada Mer was born in 1965 in Austria and is active as an artist since 1986. My basic interest is to explore reality. The medium of photography is a very suitable one. The alienation of reality by photography seems to be a way for me to discover reality. My methods of work comprise two different ways to reality. I create a “computerized photography reality” by manipulating digitalised photographs or I produce a “multiple photoimage reality” using exclusively the resources of a medium format photocamera without any manipulation. This new reality develops on the basis of the commonly used multiple exposure, of the choice of aperture and focus on the camera.
