Daniel Aschwanden

Daniel Aschwanden lives and works in Vienna.

Performer, choreographer and urban practitioner in the context of contemporary dance and performance, he founds and leads “Tanzsprache”, the first festival of the free scene in Vienna, he develops in the 90s in the context of “Bilderwerfer”, a collaborative project of disabled and non-disabled perfromers, an expertise at the interface between art and social commitment and receives together with the group the state award of the austrian federal ministry for art, for innovative achievements in this field.

During the following years until the present his focus of work shifts to questions of (performing) art in public space with participatory rudiments, but also questions about the role of art in urban development process.
