Prof. Emeritus Dr. Lutz Ellrich (Dr. phil.) is a media scientist. Since 2004, he has been Professor of Media Culture and Theater (specializing in media studies) at the University of Cologne, and previously headed the Department of Theater, Film, and Television Studies with a special focus on media studies; he has been retired since October 2014. In earlier positions, he worked as a private lecturer in sociology and cultural anthropology in Frankfurt (Oder), held a chair in media studies in Paderborn in 1998/99, and was a representative of a C2 professorship at the Institute for Computer Science and Society at the University of Freiburg. He was also involved in the DFG project “TROPOS” in the priority program “Sozionik.” His research focuses on general media and communication theory, computer sociology, and conflict research.
