Ralf Schreiber
Ralf Schreiber works with electronics, motors, microphones, and miniature speakers. This results in kinetic sound and light installations as well as electronic music. His work is characterized by a playful and experimental approach. The focus is on minimal robotics, random processes, and self-sustaining systems. For power, he often uses small solar cells to explore low-energy conversion processes that transform light into movement and sound. The output of his installations is minimal; that is, the sounds are very quiet and the movements sometimes hover at the threshold of perception. In addition, he advocates for open-source hardware and regularly offers workshops featuring circuit designs and construction plans for his works.
