Scientist at day, artist by night. While it’s in sciences about an insight, facts and an analytical image of nature, Wernfried (amne) Haas allows himself – usually after sunset – to see the world how he wants to. He finds his themes on the dance floor, rooted in murky underground cultures, which he depicts either, kind of voyeuristic, at the same place or at deserted sites. The central concern is the development of an internal imagery, apart of classical portrait photography. Lenses are not chosen because of their resolution, but rather because of their errors and infirmity, experimental sources of illumination replace soft box, tone mapping and beauty-retouch.
