Zihua Tan
is a composer whose works have been performed in Asia, Europe, and North America, at events such as Ferienkurse für Neue Musik Darmstadt (DE), Voix nouvelles de Royaumont (FR), Tongyeong International Music Festival (KR), Montréal/Nouvelles Musiques Festival (CA), and Toru Takemitsu Composition Award (JP). He has been involved in studies that deal with performative installation, ekphrasis in composition and the corresponding practices, memory in performance, and unconventional and non-Western instruments. In 2018, he obtained his doctoral degree from McGill University, Canada. Tan is perpetually intrigued by the impermanent and non-dualistic nature of being, as well as the strength of fragility.
